            Changing views, as high rise projects continue to fill the island of Manhattan (Brooklyn & Queens as well) the evolving skyline of New York City is in some ways becoming less distinct. In this image taken from the border of the town I grew up in New Jersey, the aptly named West New York, where once upon a time not that long ago the Empire State Building was clearly the centerpiece of the skyline, today it obscured by a myriad of glass towers that continue to go up at an almost frenetic rate. Progress and change are part of the fabric of New York City, being a student of history I know that well, it’s just the pace with which the last 20 years post the tragic events of September 11th is so much more rapid than in my first 40 years on this Earth. With the accommodations for the affluent increasing housing for middle class workers is decreasing as the exodus post Pandemic continues.
