Hands of Rongshui II - a photo on Flickriver

Some more shots from my trip last week to Rongshui County with Robert Lio . We eventually made our way to a tiny Miao Village on a remote mountainside. How remote? After driving three hours, we traveled the last 30 minutes by boat down a river that I still have not been able to find on a map since coming home. After all that traveling we arrived to find practically nobody home! There had been a birth recently and almost the entire village had made their way into the city. We must have passed them en route! Still, we had a nice visit. Some folks made lunch and a precocious 10 year old boy was our guide for the day.

There were two old gals hanging out in house where they fed us. I was struck by their elegance, despite what was obviously a very difficult life for them. These were taken in very low-light conditions but they were so still I was able to get some decent shots. More to come!
