MEET AT THE BRASS RAIL I - a photo on Flickriver

            It was a warm day, and along Hennepin Avenue the bars had thrown open wide front and overhead doors to the great weather.

It was about 3PM and that's when most Happy Hours start. Coincidentally, it's also the time I get hot and thirsty, from poking around with my camera.   I've always perspired at the mere mention of the world "sweat". I mean, I auto-drip in any kind of humidity.  If I am wearing only a light grey t-shirt, it will eventually turn a dark grey from the perspiration. 

Consequently, I always hav3 a cotton arabe shemagh with me . . . also handy for a quick lens wipe and to cushion the neck strap.  

So, I don't sit on the patio, I go inside where it is cool, and that is where I composed this shot.

 I chose not to keep it level as my intention was to grab the viewer's eye with the drink and the phone in hand, and then for the viewer to be guided to traverse the path of the bar to the subjects . . . one of whom looked amazed at whatever he was being taught by his buddy's new phone. I've learned that little details in the background add to those who really give visual arts a close critical look.

For those folks, I left the fellow in the background entering the men's room.
