Lilac Breasted Roller - a photo on Flickriver

            This is an adult, pastel colored  insect eater from South Africa, but will also eat lizards and crabs. Typically it perches on a dead tree, and takes it food from the ground.  Don't let its Santa Fe coloring fool you;  it is known for vigorously defending its nest from raptors.
