Arbor Day kissing booth. - a photo on Flickriver

Caption: Two Atlanta belles passed out bundles of kisses and pine seedlings on Arbor Day [1956] in Georgia to Kiwanians who promised to plant the seedlings. The occasion was a talk given by L.C. Hart, Jr., chief forester of West Lumber Co., Atlanta, outlining the firm's Tree Farm Family program to members of Atlanta's Northside Kiwanis Club. [Georgia's Arbor Day officially observed on the third Friday in February.] Members who agreed to plant at least five seedlings received a kiss from Jeannine Parris (right), Miss Georgia of 1955, and Toni Eidson (left), candidate for the Miss Atlanta title. Dollar profits alone--without kisses--are sufficient incentive for Georgians to plant more than 100 million pine seedlings every year, Mr. Hart pointed out.
