Taking the shine off things - a photo on Flickriver

            An example of that maid-of-all-work, the Bristol LH, here in its sub-coach guise, enters Plymouth's bus station on Friday 25th January 1980.  The Plaxton bodies of those days, the Panorama and the Supreme, in their assorted variations, were elegant in an understated way, but just a tiny bit uninteresting ...in my opinion at any rate.  Your "take" may differ, but each to his own.  I don't know the reasons for it, optically speaking, but that odd stippled look on the windows resulted from my use of a polarising filter.  It often happened.  In spite of this undesirable effect, the polariser's ability to eliminate unwanted reflections, especially when the sun was low in winter, made it the bus snapper's most useful accessory.  To judge from photos elsewhere on Flickr, the vehicle passed through a succession of subsequent owners after Western National had finished with it.
