LT tram No. 2170 (ex MET No. 238) @ Amhurst Park

The photo reverse is stamped with the photographer (and/or negative owner) name C. Carter.

No. 2170 was ex *Metropolitan Electric Tramways (MET) class H car No. 238 built in 1909 by Brush seating 28/46 and running on Brush M&G type 3L trucks. Between 1928-30 it was rebuilt/reseated and in 1933 received driver vestibules/screens. Its ownership transferred from MET to the London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB) in 1933 when it was renumbered from 238 to 2170.

It was withdrawn from service and in Dec 1938 was disposed of (broken up or sold) at the LT Hampstead Depot. The parts of the London tramways system that had not already been withdrawn or transferred to trolleybus/bus operation closed in Jul 1952.
