LMS Steam Loco No. 9077 @ Rhyl - Jul 1949

            One of a collection of 3" x 2" amateur transport photographs by E. D./I. H. Chambers, all dating to between 1947 and 1952. The photo reverse is annotated with "LMS 9077 (B6) at Rhyl 29-7-1949". I assume that 'B6' refers to the shed it was based in at that time, Mold Junction. The sign on the building that the engine is pulling freight cars out of is "L.M.S. Goods Warehouse".

Locomotive No. 9077 was a class G2A (G when new, G1 in Dec 1931, and G2A in Jun 1939) 0-8-0 engine, built by Crewe Works and new to London and North Western Railway in Jan 1910 carrying number 2654. In Aug 1927 London, Midland & Scottish Railway renumbered it 9077, and in Aug 1950 it was renumbered by British Railways as 49077. It was withdrawn from service in Oct 1961, and scrapped at 'Cashmore's Great Bridge' scrapyard.
