Pensar para liberar: Fray Bartolomé de las Casas

            Estatua en lo alto de la columna en el lateral de La Merced de Antigua, representando a fray Barlolomé de las Casas. Como muchas obras artísticas en la Antigua, especialmente las fuentes, esta obra está fuera de contexto al estar junto al cenobio mercedario; los restos del Convento de los hijos de Santo Domingo están sobre la tercera calle, al oriente de la Primera Avenida. Allí estuvo el dominico fray Bartolomé de las Casas de 1536 a 1540, componiendo sus obras de reflexión y denuncia de la esclavitud de los indígenas.
