Magpie Tanager (Cissopsis leverianus)

The Magpie Tanager (Cissopsis leverianus) occurs in some parts of all South American countries, except for Chile. It's a large bird, about 26 to 29 cm (10 to 11.75 inches). The markings are reminiscent of a Magpie but it is an unmistakable tanager. Its behavior is noisy and jay-like. They inhabit forest borders and shrubby areas to about 1400 meters (4600 feet) above sea level.
