The Red-bellied Grackle is a distinctive rare blackbird of cloud forest in the Colombian Andes. It is large, long-tailed, and heavy-billed with a bright red belly and otherwise glossy black plumage. Red-bellied Grackles moves through the forest in groups, giving a variety of calls and often flocking with Scarlet-rumped Caciques (Cacicus uropygialis ❨ neotropical.birds.cornell.edu/Species-Account/nb/species/...❩
and other large birds. While it has been recorded from all three ranges of the Andes in Colombia, contemporary localities are few. Deforestation is thought to have been a major reason for declines, but other factors may be involved given that this species uses edge habitats and planted trees and that it has failed to increase in suitable areas following forest regrowth.

El Grackle vientre rojo es un mirlo rara distintiva de bosque nublado en los Andes colombianos. Es grande, de cola larga,
y con un vientre de color rojo brillante y el plumaje negro brillante con pico de otra manera pesada. otras aves grandes. Si bien se ha registrado desde las tres cordilleras de los Andes en Colombia, localidades contemporáneos son pocos. La deforestación se cree que ha sido una de las principales razones de la disminución, pero otros factores pueden estar involucrados, dado que esta especie utiliza hábitats de borde y los árboles plantados y que no ha aumentado en las áreas adecuadas después de la repoblación forestal.
