Doelan: sunset on the lighthouse - a photo on Flickriver

            The lighthouse of Doelan (tiny natural harbor in Brittany) light up by the setting sun.

On this trip, I had forgotten my camera. Hence, I had to use my mobile. Overall, I'm quite impressed by the quality of the image.

In terms of composition, I chose to go for verticality. The lighthouse was actually quite close and I use a wide angle. I used the line of the wall on the sky to create guides toward the ligthouse, as well as a feeling of lonelyness. I could not zoom out more in this direction, as there were actually houses on both sides.

I post-processed a bit the image, using the darktable software, to strength the impression of light on the lighthouse. I made the right end of the wall darker (with tone curve filters). I use a bit of contrast enhancement (contrast equalizer) on the water and on the lighthouse. I used split toning to make the sunlight parts at the center of the image more yellow. I made the top of the sky a tiny bit darker, but not much.
