my father on Ulithi Atoll in 1945, photographer unknown

            An unknown photographer snapped this photo in January 1945 on the atoll of Ulithi close to the end of World War II. My brother found it online. We are almost certain my father is in the picture, second row, toward the center, wearing the dark navy cap worn by a chief petty officer, my father's rank toward the end of the war. He was assigned to the USS Marmora, a tanker in the Pacific Theater and it was anchored off Ulithi in January 1945. The man we think is my father has his build, his features, his smile, his stance. Forever young. Too bad we discovered the photo after he died.
