[Film 8x10] Concert for the Kimberly, Melbourne, Australia

            A concert was held in protest of the James Price Point gas refinery that is to be built on the Kimberly coast of Western Australia. Clare Bowditch and The John Butler Trio performed here at Federation and at the time this photo was taken, the attendance was around 4000.

It was difficult to find a good spot with a clear view, especially because I only had with me a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 210mm f/4.5 wide-angle lens (equivalent to a 30mm lens on 35mm/full frame) that I was trying out for the first time. So, to make the most out of it, I wanted to frame the big crowd in as well.

The lens is mounted on a Ilex Universal #4 press shutter and the slow shutter speeds are quite off. This meant I had to do this 1-second exposure in the bulb mode. Since I didn't have enough room to spread the tripod legs further apart in the middle of the crowd, in the process of doing the bulb exposure I may have shaken the camera a bit too. No... my cable release wasn't tough enough to release the shutter. It's a pretty old lens and a shutter.
