Power Every Which-way From Israel’s Largest Power Station

            Orot Rabin (Hebrew: Rabin Lights) is a power station located on the Mediterranean coast in Hadera, Israel just north of Caesarea, a national park on the site of an ancient port city. 

Originally the power station was named Maor David after David Shiffman, then-chairman of the Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) who died during its lengthy period of construction. (Maor means a light or luminary in Hebrew). The IEC is the largest supplier of electrical power in Israel and the Palestinian territories.

After the completion of a major expansion of the station in the 1990s and the 1995 assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, the station was renamed in his honor.

Yitzhak Rabin was an Israeli politician, statesman and general. He was the fifth Prime Minister of Israel, serving two terms in office, 1974–77, and from 1992 until 1995.
