The encounter - a photo on Flickriver

The encounter

This was one of those moments where the pleasure of being there and witnessing these magnificent animals in their wild habitat, made me lose track of how close to them I was.. this shot was made from approximately 15-20metres; I was very close to the ground - as it can be seen from the image's perspective - and if the musk-ox decided to attack me, I would have had no way of escaping.. luckily they did not mind me :).

You'd probably think this was shot in autumn, however it was shot in plain winter (December) - this was on top of a small hill, where the powerful blizzards entirely swept all the snow, leaving the vegetation nice and dry - a nice favor for the ox, I might say :).
