            Op 24 april 2015 werd de APM Terminal op de Tweede Maasvlakte officieel geopend. In het dagelijks gebruik staat de terminal beter bekend als 'AMPT2'. Haar vooruitgeschoven ligging, dus weg van het land en letterlijk in zee, zorgt ervoor dat de grootste schepen kunnen afmeren onder de blauwe kranen. Mede dankzij die mogelijkheden vestigde deze terminal in oktober 2015 een record door een schip van Maersk te beladen tot 17 152 TEU. Een dergelijke, hoge bezettingsgraad werd nog niet eerder behaald in de zeevaart.

In een typisch Maersk landschap (blauwe kranen tegen grijze containers) rolt de V 204 van de Rurtalbahn met een trein containers van concurrerende reders richting de Euromaxx terminal.
