Castelletto di Cuggiono (Milano) - Chiesa Ss. Giacomo e Filippo

            Le origini dell’edificio religioso sono molto antiche poichè è già menzionato in un atto notarile del 988. La chiesa attuale è però sostanzialmente di impianto del sec. XVII con il presbiterio e il coro che risalgono al 1605.
Probabilmente nella seconda metà del sec. XIV i religiosi dell’ordine dei Domenicani giunsero a Castelletto di Cuggiono, allora grangia, cioè podere, del convento di S. Eustorgio a Milano. Nel XVI secolo il piccolo convento e la chiesa furono ampliati, costruendo locali d’abitazione e magazzini per i prodotti dei campi e le derrate che venivano spedite sul Naviglio Grande poco distante al convento milanese. Ma il 10 dicembre 1652 papa Innocenzo X con la bolla “Instaurandae” soppresse i conventi poco numerosi e tra questi anche quello di Castelletto di Cuggiono e il patrimonio degli immobili fu ceduta al clero diocesano. Da allora vari passaggi di proprietà ne produssero la decadenza sino al 1992 quando fu restaurata.

The origins of the religious building are very old as it is already mentioned in a deed of 988. The present church, however, is substantially of the XVII century plant with chancel and the choir that dates back to 1605.
Probably in the second half of the XIV century of the religious order of Dominicans arrived in Castelletto di Cuggiono, a farm of the convent of S. Eustorgio in Milan. In the sixteenth century the small convent and church were expanded building houses and stores for products of the commodities, shipped on the Naviglio Grande canal to the principal monastery in Milan. But December 10, 1652 Pope Innocent X in his document "Instaurandae" suppressed the minor monasteries and among them also the Castelletto di Cuggiono one. The assets of the estate was sold to the diocesan clergy. Since then, several changes of ownership produced the decline until 1992 when the church was restored.
