Tongue and cheek, yes, but I'm becoming increasingly disgusted with blogs, forums, and sites saying that you *must* have the right tool for the right job, yada yada. And then, of course, telling you what that exact camera/lens combo is -- according to their own personal criteria… Which is why, I think, I so loved this blog post: My name is….

Our whale watching boat was filled with cameras of all sorts -- iPhones, point and shoots, micro four-thirds, all the way up to big honking Nikons and Canons with their ginormous white lenses -- all clicking happily away. An owner of the latter chuckled at me when I proudly boasted that I had a 75mm lens, ready to pat me on the head in consolation. She did it in a kindly way, mind you, but I think she thought I was slightly daft (I am but that's besides the point) and felt quite superior. Who wouldn't -- with fast auto-focus, image stabilisation, and a 300mm lens?

Anyways, this is what I got with manual focus, no image stabilisation, and a mere 75mm lens -- uncropped.
