Helene Maddux (left), Amelia Earhart (center), and Gladys McConnell (right) pose in front of a Maddux Air Lines plane at Grand Central Air Terminal in Glendale, CA. Maddux Air Lines, owned by Jack Maddux, began operations in 1927 with passenger flights between Los Angeles and San Diego.

In addition to being Maddux Air Lines' traffic manager, Helene Maddux was a member of the Ninety-Nines, an international organization of women pilots, featuring Amelia Earhart as a founding member and first president.

Gladys McConnell was an actress and aviatrix who flew for a time out of Portland, OR.
