El cuervo palmero (Corvus palmarum) es una especie de ave en la familia Corvidae. Es un ave relativamente pequeña de plumaje negro.
Se lo encuentra principalmente en la gran isla caribeña de La Española, donde se encuentran la República Dominicana y Haití. Antiguamente era una especie común en Cuba pero su población se ha reducido en gran medida y se encuentra casi extinto allí. La forma cubana es un poco más pequeña y por lo general es separada como una subespecie denominada Corvus palmarum minutus. A estas dos formas se les dan los nombres comunes de cuervo palmero de la Española y cuervo palmero cubano.
El nombre común dominicano para el cuervo palmero es cao, el cual es la onomatopeya de su llamada simple y repetitiva de esta ave. Allí es común principalmente en los bosques montanos de pino y en proximidades del lago Enriquillo.

The palm crow (Corvus palmarum) is a relatively small black bird in the crow family that occurs mostly on the large Caribbean island of Hispaniola, itself divided into the two countries of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. It was formerly quite frequent on Cuba but has become severely reduced in number and may be almost extinct there. This form is slightly smaller and is usually separated as a sub-species called Corvus palmarum minutus. Both forms are usually now given the respective common names of Hispaniolan palm crow and Cuban palm crow to distinguish them.

The Dominican local name for the palm crow is cao, which is onomatopoeic of the simple and repetitive call of this bird. There it is locally common, mainly in mountain pine forests and also around the area of Lake Enriquillo.
