El Chi-cuí (Todus angustirostris), también denominado barranco picofino y cortacubas de pico fino, es una especie de ave coraciforme de la familia Todidae endémica de la isla de La Española.

Se encuentra principalmente en los bosques húmedos de montaña tanto de la República Dominicana como de Haití, a diferencia de su pariente el barrancolí picogrueso que prefiere los hábitats de altitudes más bajas.
Habita en zonas montañosas como barrancas vegetaras, bosques montañosos húmedos, pinares y plantaciones de cafe.

es una ve pequeña de aproximadamente 11 centímetros de longitud. presenta cuerpo rechoncho y una cabeza grande y picolargo. las partes superiores son de color verde brillante y las partes inferiores son blancuras tintadas de amarillo. los costados son rosados rojizos, y la garganta es roja. el iris de sis ojos es azul pálido.

el chi-cui es una insectivora muy activa y rapida, capaz de capturar sus presas al vuelo.

se reproducen entre los meses de abril y junio. construyen nidos en barrancos, excavando túneles de hasta 30 centímetros con sus picos y patas. también, anidad en los huecos de los arboles. ponen 3 a 4 huevos de color blanco.

esta especie es amenazada por la perdida de su habitat.

The narrow-billed tody (Todus angustirostris) is a species of bird in the Todidae family. It is found in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and heavily degraded former forest.

It is found mainly in the humid mountain forests of both the Dominican Republic and Haiti, unlike its relative the narrow-billed today (barrancolí), who prefers habitats lower altitudes.
It lives in mountainous areas and vegetated ravines, wet mountain forests, pine forests and coffee plantations.

It is a small bird of about 11 centimeters in length. It presents stocky body and a large head and long beak. Uppers are bright green and the underparts are yellow tinted whiteness. the sides are reddish pink, and the throat is red. iris is pale blue eyes.

the chi-cui is a very active and fast insectivore, able to capture their prey on the fly.

They breed between April and June. They build nests on cliffs, digging tunnels up to 30 centimeters with their beaks and legs. also is nested in hollow trees. They put three to four white eggs.

This species is threatened by habitat loss.
