i'm keeping my heart - a photo on Flickriver

            And so it's Valentines'...again. It does seem to come round every February. Especially on the 14th. There could be a pattern emerging. The overabundance of affection that is festooned about the place will make you see red. Literally. I mean it's everywhere. You'll see pink too. For as we all know these are the colours that make up the human heart. And mine too. I think. I'm assuming. 

I've never wanted to give mine away. It all sounds very dangerous. I'm going to assume this is a reciprocal process. You give yours, they give theirs, you pop them into your respective flesh receptacles and start bouncing about in an aerobic way. But what if theirs is defective? There you are giving away your perfectly decent heart that's been working perfectly all this time and in return, you get the puss-filled monstrosity that misfires and leads to noxious fumes emanating from a tailpipe. 

I will admit my knowledge of the inner working of the human or otherwise humanesque body is mostly gathered from slasher films where the bits are strewn everywhere but it looks almost accurate. 

But no I'm keeping mine. It is barely used. I already know it fits. And I'm very possessive of my stuff. So no. I'm going to horde my heart and no amount of anything will convince me otherwise. 

So no. No one is getting to touch it. Anyway, it'll be all icky if you did. Look at it's squishiness. I'm really doing you a favour here. You should thank me.
