Burrowing Owl

            Found on one of our only rainy days this summer (almost fall).  I kept my distance so as not to frighten him off but when he went into a crouch I thought he'd soon be airborne.  Instead he sat on his perch, wings spread, soaking up the mist.  Every once in a while he'd ruffle his feathers but for the most part he seemed to be enjoying the rain as much as all the other Californians.  His mate was nearby enjoying this much needed weather event, as well.
