Corpus Christi Petrochemical Company, - Olefines Plant. August 1980.

            The Corpus Christi Petrochemical Company's Olefine Plant was a joint venture between the Champlin Petrochemical Company, ICI, and Solvay (of Belgium).
The plant was located in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was a "carbon copy" of ICI's Olefines 6 plant located in Wlton, Teesside.
The ICI "cracker" had started operations shortly before the CCPC "cracker" also came on line.
The CCPC plant started up in August 1980 and had only been operational for a few days before it had to shut down because of Hurricane Alan. The hurricane struck the Gulf Coast. After a few days, when the hurricane had passed, the plant started up again.
