Magic, Tragic, White, Disappearing sands beach

            And I end this series with the beach that changed my life. Almost 13 years ago I found myself in a position of dammed if I do, dammed if I don't. I choose to swim out to the huge wave fast approaching instead of trying to get into shore. A moment after diving in I felt like I was in a washing machine, not knowing which way was up and all I really remember was the turmoil of the water battering me about. When I came up to the surface I could stand, but noticed not all of me was in proper formation. I looked over my right shoulder and thought it odd that my arm looked like it was on backwards. Indeed it was.

Long story short, it happened on day 4 of 14, Kona hospital overnighted me (USD16,000.00 - yes I had insurance) and told me they couldn't do surgery for at least 7 days, I said I'm going home in 10 so they velcro'd my arm to my body, and sent me on my way with a big bottle of oxy. They said I was lucky my arm was out as it could have been my neck that snapped when I hit the ocean floor.  I finished my birthday vacation by flying over Kauai in an open door helicopter.

Upon landing in Toronto, home to pet my cats then off to the hospital for a partial shoulder replacement surgery with titanium implants.

To this day, I am most content and happy when in, under, on or by bodies of water.

Disappearing - as the beach sand gets sucked out into the ocean when hit by a bad storm - which was the case on this visit
