Chinese lady - a photo on Flickriver

Chinese lady

            Her hat and the way she sat so peacefully under the cold late fall sun caught my eye. We sat side by side for a long time until I finally couldn't resist anymore and asked her if I could take her picture. She pointed towards the cafe door and mumbled something in Chinese. I realized she couldn't speak English and whoever was with her was probably inside buying their drinks. I did what photographers do when there is a language barrier - I raised the camera towards my eyes and raised my eyebrows while nodding yes with my head. She smiled shyly and at first shook her head. I smiled, she smiled back and looked at me. I took the picture and showed her. She stood up and gave me a big hug, with obvious delight.
