le Félix William Spiers (1932-1944)

            The second canoe in the resort of Ploumanac'h, the Félix William Spiers was inaugurated in 1932, it was the first motorized canoe in Ploumaniac'h. It was equipped with a 10 horsepower Beaudouin engine. On board, in this photo, the mechanic is Yves Limbourg. During the war, during an attempt to escape to England, a simple check of the level of gasoline in the tank with a lighter for all lighting transformed the boat into a blaze. The Germans completed the work by blowing up the shelter and the canoe in August 1944 at the same time as the Méan Ruz and Sept Iles lighthouses.

Le deuxième canot de la station de Ploumanac'h, le Félix William Spiers fut inauguré en 1932, ce fut le premier canot à moteur à Ploumaniac'h. Il était équipé d'un moteur Beaudouin de 10 chevaux. A bord, sur cette photo, le mécanicien est Yves Limbourg. Pendant la guerre, lors d'une tentative d'évasion vers l'Angleterre, une simple vérification du niveau d'essence dans le réservoir avec pour tout éclairage un briquet transforma le bateau en un brasier. Les Allemands achevèrent le travail en faisant sauter l'abri et le canot en août 1944 en même temps que le phare de Méan Ruz et des Sept Iles.
