TONTON LOM (AU 2517) lobster / tuna boat built in 1961 in Audierne (29770) Brittany France, by the Pierre Gléhen shipyard for Pierre Moullec (Plouhinec) L: 16.7m 1: 5.75m; te: 2,8m - tonnage: 47,5tx. 200hp Poyaud engine, hold 25 m3 refrigerated at 0 ° C. Timeline: TONTON LOM (Audierne) AU 2517 then AD 279028, then La Vagabonde (Douarnenez) 1977 [Jacques Ralec] DZ 279028, then La Vagabonde de Mers (Guernsey) GU 255 then, LA Vagabonde des Mers (Jersey) [Harvey and Sons] J 612. In the 90s he regularly visited Cherbourg to sell his crustaceans or Granville for fairing.
Sold in Cornwall, it was a long time in Penzance, then was sold for the port of Salcombe, “La Vagabonde des Mers” is now in Teignmouth Devon.

Chantiers navals (boat yard) Pierre Gléhen Audierne

After a time spent in Guilvinec with his father, Pierre Gléhen decided to go out on his own and in 1944 moved to Audierne. The beginnings were difficult, the war was not over, the skilled labour was lacking, the raw material, the tools were also lacking; Nevertheless, with strength of will and courage, the shipyard was starting in the Stum cove, and from 1945, the first boats were launched, including 2 trawlers of 13 m for Etaples, another of 16 m for Gravelines and then the Lapart Bihen II for Yves Lapart of Poulgoazec. In 1957 Pierre Gléhen joined the family yard in Guilvinec and left his son Yves to take the reins of the Audierne shipyard
Until the closure of the shipyard in 1975, 130 boats of all sizes will be launched both for the Audierne district and for other parts of France and even abroad.
