Venceremos! - a photo on Flickriver

Venceremos!

Simply by virtue of having appeared in my photostream, this is going to raise a few eyebrows, but I don't care. I'm a Reagan Republican, but I appreciate art and happened to like this mural even though I am no fan of Che Guevara. (For that matter, I regard Alberto Korda's famous portrait of Che, upon which this painting is based, as one of the greatest photographs ever taken by anyone.)

This was seen in an art gallery on the west side of Phoenix, which I visited with cobalt123 during First Friday festivities. It was one of a number of street paintings done on sheets of corrugated metal. For those who cannot read Spanish, the slogan translates as "The true revolutionary is guided by great feelings of love." I rather doubt that Armando Valladares, for one, would agree with the sentiment, at least when considering its source.
