            Lesser Thorn-tipped Longhorn Beetle, Pogonocherus hispidus.

A species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae.  

Length 6-7 mm.

Found in deciduous trees and shrubs from Spring until Autumn.

Fairly frequent and widespread in much of England and Wales, fewer records from further north. 

Said to be camouflaged to resemble a bird dropping.  It is distinguished by a thorn like tooth at the tip of each elytron, (the horny front wings, which cover and protect the hind wings), and black scutellum.
