Reloj Astronómico de Praga
El Reloj Astronómico de Praga es el reloj medieval más famoso del mundo. Fue construido en 1410por el maestro relojero Hanus y perfeccionado por Jan Taborsky en el siglo XVI. La leyenda dice que para que Hanus no repitiera su obra, los concejales le dejaron ciego.
El reloj se encuentra situado en el edificio del ayuntamiento y se compone de tres partes:
1 - El calendario de Josef Mánes:
La esfera inferior de la Torre del Reloj representa los meses del año mediante pinturas realizadas por Mánes. También se pueden apreciar los signos del zodiaco y, en el centro, el Escudo de Armas de la Ciudad Vieja.
El calendario tiene cuatro pequeñas esculturas: Un filósofo, un ángel, un astrónomo y un orador.
2 - El Reloj Astronómico:
La esfera superior de la Torre del Reloj es el Reloj Astronómico propiamente dicho. Su función no era dar la hora, sino representar las órbitas del Sol y de la Luna.
3 - Las figuras animadas:
El principal atractivo del reloj es el desfile de los doce apóstoles que se produce cada vez que el reloj marca las horas. Este desfile se produce en las ventanas superiores del Reloj Astronómico.
Además de los apóstoles hay cuatro figuras adicionales: el Turco, la Avaricia, la Vanidad y la Muerte, un esqueleto que tirando de la cuerda marca el inicio del desfile.

Prague Astronomical Clock
The Prague Astronomical Clock is the most famous medieval clock in the world. It was built in 1410 by master clockmaker Hanus and perfected by Jan Taborsky in the 16th century. The legend says that in order that Hanus did not repeat his work, the councilors left him blind.
The clock is located in the building of the town hall and is composed of three parts:
1 - The calendar of Josef Mánes:
The lower sphere of the Clock Tower represents the months of the year through paintings made by Mánes. You can also see the signs of the zodiac and, in the center, the Coat of Arms of the Old City.
The calendar has four small sculptures: a philosopher, an angel, an astronomer and an orator.
2 - The Astronomical Clock:
The upper sphere of the Clock Tower is the Astronomical Clock itself. Its function was not to give the hour, but to represent the orbits of the Sun and the Moon.
3 - The animated figures:
The main attraction of the watch is the parade of the twelve apostles that occurs every time the clock strikes the hours. This parade takes place in the upper windows of the Astronomical Clock.
In addition to the apostles there are four additional figures: the Turkish, the Greed, the Vanity and the Death, a skeleton that pulling the rope marks the beginning of the parade.
