Das Backbordfeuer, ein rotbrauner Ziegelturm mit roter, halbkugelförmiger Eisenlaterne und Galerie, steht auf dem Kopf der Nordmole in Bremerhaven, an der Einfahrt in die Geeste. Die Ziegelsteinmauer der Mole ist auf Holzpfählen gegründet.Die starke Gezeitenströmung der Weser und der oft starke Wind macht die Einfahrt in die Geestemündung zu einer Herausforderung für die Schifffahrt. Schon oft wurde die Mole von den hereinfahrenden Schiffen gerammt. Seit Generationen ist die Nordmole beliebter Treffpunkt für Liebespaare und Freunde schöner Sonnenuntergänge. Seit 2001 steht der Leuchtturm unter Denkmalschutz.

The port fire, a red-brown brick tower with a red, hemispherical iron lantern and gallery, stands on the head of the northern pier in Bremerhaven, the entrance to the Geeste. The strong tidal current of the Weser and the often strong wind make the entrance into the estuary of the river Geeste a challenge for shipping. The pier has often been rammed by the incoming ships. For generations the Nordmole has been a popular meeting place for lovers and friends of beautiful sunsets. The lighthouse has been a listed building since 2001.
