Quercus scytophylla Liebm. 1854 (FAGACEAE).

            Arboles perennifolios (en la literatura frecuentemente se lee que ésta y otras especies centroamericanas son caducifolias o tardiamente caducifolias, en Iturraran todas ellas se comportan como perennifolias) de hasta 20 m de alto. Es una especie termófila que vive sobre suelos calcáreos o de origen volcánico en el noroeste y centro de México, desde los 900 a los 2600 m de altitud. En Iturraran se encuentra en las zonas 6 y 8.

Evergreen trees (in the literature it is frequently read that this and other Central American species are deciduous or late deciduous, in Iturraran all of them behave as evergreen) up to 20 m tall. It is a thermophilic species that lives on calcareous or volcanic soils in northwestern and central Mexico, from 900 to 2600 m altitude. In Iturraran it is found in zones 6 and 8.
