Besançon, Rue de la Convention, Cathedrale Saint-Jean, belfry

            The cathedral dedicated to St. John was built in the 4th century but receved numerous modifications in the following centuries. The building which we see today dates from the middle of the 12th century and was initiated by Archbishop Hugues de Salins. The cathedral shows a mix of romanesque, gothic and baroque styles and posseses two chancels, built in different styles, which is quite rare in France.
