MAERSK KARACHI 001

            In May 2015 the boom of a container bridge in Bremerhaven was broken during operation and smashed into a cargo hold of the container vessel MAERSK KARACHI. The boom got stuck in one of the ships ballast tanks. Unfortunately, when it was tried to cut off the boom by welding torch, the remaining containers in the cargo hold caught fire. It took nearly two days until the fire was extinguished.
