So this is what we did: we hired an old schooner with crew for the day and set off across the Bay of Guanabara. By lunchtime we moored close to a small resort and had lunch on the beach. After lunch we slowly headed back for Rio, that amazing city that they have somehow managed to build among the mountain peaks that puncture the urban fabric everywhere. Can you believe that among those mountains on the horizon is a city of 12 million people?
