Mountain Camelia in Early Snow - a photo on Flickriver

            The Mountain Camelia (Stewartia ovata) in one of my favorite trees in the southern Appalachians because of its rarity, its beautiful flowers that appear in summer, and its late show of fall colors that often do not peak until late October or early November.  We had a very early seasonal snow last night in Mars Hill (4-5 inches) that added some sparkle to the foliage of this specimen that grows in my native plant garden.
