Every Now and Again Dad Says Hi Jul 2023

            Dad loved John Stewart. He was a folk songwriter and musician that played with the Kingston Trio. He is probably not known as the writer of "Daydream Believer" made famous by the Monkees. This was his real meal ticket. He was friends with Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks - among many other rock and rollers of the 60s and 70s. He did a song with Papa John Phillips (Chilly Winds). He taught Lindsey Buckingham how to play banjo. In the 1970s he did a song "Gold" that was somewhat of a hit on FM radio. He and Stevie Nicks did this together and once in while I hear it on the radio. Previously I heard it about once per ten years. I've heard it at least 3 times since dad died on June 28, 2022. John Stewart died in the early 2000s. He had Alzheimers, but died from a stroke before progressed far. Dad had Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) a more cruel form of Alzheimers disease. Instead of robbing your memory first it takes your speech, understanding, your ability to reason, your ability to regulate your emotions....and then your memory. 

I don't  really believe in an afterlife but sometimes wonder whether Dad's essence is out there with John Stewart...and recently joined by Gordon Lightfoot, Ian Tyson, and David Crosby - all playing guitars in a cosmic jam concert. Dad loved to play and entertain. It's probably synchronicity, but it's nice to think Dad is out there, being his full self, free of the suffering from disease.
