The 13th Full Moon of 2020 Over Mt. Olympus

            Cold Moon, Ice Moon, Long Night Moon, Wolf Moon, Snow Moon and Hoar Frost Moon are all names for the full moon adorning the sky of the long nights of the year near the winter solstice. This is the 13th and final full moon of 2020. It is, therefore, a Wolf Moon that ends the year 2020.

On this shot, the Moon rises over Mount Olympus (2,918 m or 9,570 ft, Greece), as viewed from South West, from afar (from a distance of 43 miles or 69 km away), from the outskirts of Kalampaka. This was a rather “shy” Moon, most often hidden behind wisps and bands of dense clouds at sunset. The highest mountain in Greece was thought as the 12 gods' everlasting residence, according to Homer. The sacred mountain has long inspired a legion of poets.
