20 years of helping people in Liberia (photo 4/14)

Supporting income generating projects after the conflict: In 2006, the ICRC launched a different kind of program to help people get back on their feet by securing a source of income. The program supported several projects including farming, gardening, planting cash crops (cocoa, coffee, palm), and maintaining fishponds. The ICRC also provided thousands of tools and other agricultural implements to people. Women running single-parent households were and still are of particular interest to the ICRC. This picture shows a group of women making soap to support their families in Lofa County in 2006.
