Class 37 Test Train at Beighton Station - 5643+5644

            Right train, wrong location being the only section of line, the last small section of the GC's London Extension between Woodhouse Junction and Beighton Junction, facing just about due south-east with the sun just off to the right and producing oodles of glare on the pictures. With not much in the way of spare time, the best had to be made of a bad job and to this end there was some extra interest ion the form of (a) the road being closed over the crossing due to road works and (b) the presence of Network Rail working in the old Beighton Station sidings. The Test Train set today, comprising of a single yellow inspection coach, 977974 was being hauled 'anti-clockwise' as it were' from Derby RTC to Sheffield by DRS class 37, 37402, 'Stephen Middlemore 23.12.1954 - 8.6.2013' (since December 2013), the 1Q05 working. Setting off from Derby and coming up the Old Road to Beighton Junction, the set then took the divergence onto this section of line to Woodhouse Junction and so into Sheffield on the Lincoln line. It then proceeded to repeat the whole process, passing back through around 2pm in the afternoon. With bright glare along the rails southwards, these are the best photographs in that direction as 37402 produces a healthy cloud of 'clag' on the slight up-grade to the Beighton Station level crossing. Looks like we may be in for more -re-railing in the the not too distant future, though this section of line is only used infrequently during the week; it has however been pressed into more interesting action for passenger diversions during work on the Midland main line through Sheffield.
