Urban Jungle - a photo on Flickriver

Urban Jungle

            We went up a metal staircase that was close by. Cristy stopped and collected some wood from some wooden pallets that were stacked against the wall. She managed to fit the pieces of wood into her pack. 

Cristy - “Better we have the materials for a fire when we get up there.”
Phin - "Smart thinking."

A little bit down the way a large section of catwalk had collapsed along the wall, leaving only the route stretching across the open area of the building. I guess if there’s no other choice it’s better just to go straight across. I started moving down the catwalk, but I couldn't hear Cristy behind me, I turned back and she was holding firm onto the railing while peaking over the edge.

Phin - “You coming?”

She looked up at me.

Cristy - “Uh…sorry, I just-…”
Phin - “Heights aren't really your thing?”
Cristy - “I never said that! But…at heights like this it’s...kinda hard not to be a little scared.”

In the Citadel, there wasn't really any worry of heights, since each level followed a tier pattern. Here though it’s just a straight vertical view down.

Phin - “Well, we've made it this far without anything happening. If this thing hasn't collapsed by now yet, then I doubt it will under just our weight."

I smacked my hand onto the railing to put emphasis on my point.

Phin - "Come on. Trust me, we'll be fine.”

Cristy looked along the catwalk before going along towards me. I turned back around and continued forward. Just then, a loud creak rings out from the metal and echoes through the building. I look back at Cristy; holding onto both the railings and staring wide-eyed at me.

Phin - “…Let’s get across this thing quick.”
