Guys take a load off on the Wire - a photo on Flickriver

            Where is the fire? just sit on the wire. This was taken near a Factory  dairy farm(CAFO). They flock there to feed on spilt feed and the worms and insects that thrive in the shit......This CAFO has 5000 head of cows that produce ALOT of manure that has to go somewhere. Unfortunately goes into the water.  The state has minimal regulations and doesn't enforce the laws on the books.  The runoff and groundwater contamination leads to algae blooms and air pollution. Recent research is showing that the micro-particles from pesticide and herbicide application and CAFO hair pollution are not measured by instruments. The research suggests that many rural areas have air quality equal to the most urban areas.  Indiana leads the country in the number of CAFOs.  It plays a role in Indiana's life expectancy is 2-3 years less than the national average.
