Model Bombing Range (1954)

            This Nissen hut style building housed test equipment for the firing and imaging of scale replica munitions in order to assess their aerodynamic properties.

The site at Orford Ness was in military ownership between 1915 and 1987, and in that time was active in the development of military aviation, radio and radar technology and nuclear bomb development. Now owned by the National trust, the wildlife has started to reclaim much of the site as many of the historic buildings stand as sentinels to the work that has long since ceased.
