Pont d’Escales, Sopeira (Huesca, España)

[ENG] Over Noguera Ribagorzana river, near the Alaón Monastery (Huesca, Spain), is the Pont d'Escales (Bridge of Escales), also known as Pont d'Alt (upstream Bridge), which crosses the river very near to the Congosto de Escales (Escales gorge) (today blinded by a 125 m high dam built in 1955). It has a length of 31 m, 2.8 m wide and a maximum height of 4 m, with a arched profile as usual in these medieval structures, it has three arches, although the main arch -which has 13 m of span- it is closest to the left riverbank. It is dated in the 12th century and its state of preservation is very good. See the album Alaon Monastery.

[ESP] Sobre el río Noguera Ribagorzana, en las inmediaciones del Monasterio de Alaón (Huesca, España), se encuentra el Pont d’Escales (Puente de Escales), también conocido como Pont d’Alt (Puente de arriba), que cruza el río muy cerca del Congosto de Escales (hoy cegado por una presa de 125 m de altura construida en 1955). Tiene una longitud de 31 m, 2.8 m de ancho y una altura máxima de 4 m, con perfil alomado como es habitual en estas estructuras medievales, tiene tres ojos, aunque para aptarse al terreno el arco principal –que tiene 13 m de luz- es el más próximo a la orilla izquierda.
