Selva de Irati, Cascada del Cubo (Navarra, España)

[ENG] The Cubo Waterfall is a small treasure that shines in the Irati Forest, especially in autumn. It is formed in a stepped slope of the Urbeltza River, very close to the Errekaidorra trail in the vicinity of the Casas de Irati. The Selva de Irati (Irati Forest) is one of the largest and best preserved beech-fir forests in Europe. An extensive forest of beech, oak, fir, birch, willow, fern and moss trees that provide a home for deer, roe deer, wild boar... not to mention woodpeckers and large birds of prey such as the bearded vulture, the peregrine falcon and the golden eagle. [ESP] La Cascada del Cubo es un pequeño tesoro que luce en la Selva de Irati, especialmente en otoño. Se forma en un desnivel escalonado del río Urbeltza, muy cerca del sendero de Errekaidorra en las inmediaciones de las Casas de Irati. La Selva de Irati es uno de los hayedos-abetales más grandes y mejor conservados de Europa. Un extenso bosque hayas, robles, abetos, abedules, sauces, helechos y musgos que ofrecen morada a ciervos, corzos, jabalíes… sin olvidar a pájaros carpinteros y grandes rapaces como el quebrantahuesos, el halcón peregrino o el águila real.
