I think these are actually called "At Home Pink". But Adidas' official site says Cherry/Team red/Chalk.
This colorway is a 2022 drop, but I photographed them in 2023. This colorway and silhouette in general are super underrated. The quality on these is insanely good, much better than any of these premium priced NB 99x Made series shoes I bought recently. And these cost like 160 US at retail.
I think these are a bargain pair. Maybe because I got these very cheap on their Platinum member only sell in the last October, I may just love them so much and think they are actually better than most of the NB Premium Made in US or UK shoes (material wise). But I swear this pair of shoes have really great nubuck upper.
My honest thoughts on the NB 550 vs the Forum Low.
The New Balance 550's are much comfier than the Forum Lows, of course just in my opinion, though. And the AF1's are also a bit comfier than the Forum Lows, but the 550's are bit better than the AF1's in terms of comfort.
The newer Forums have softer foam inside, Rose Anvil showed that in his recent Forum 84 review (cut in half), but I think the height of the midsole is too short to make it very comfy in case of the Adidas Forum (or Jordan 1). So, I think the 550's are better shoes, and I also prefer the look of the 550's much better than the Forums.
The AF1 has some Air and the height of the midsole makes it very comfy shoes for me. And I think these are much better than the Adidas Forum's both in terms of material and comfort.
Still the 550's are a bit more comfortable than even the AF1 PRM's with a bit softer leather than the typical AF1's.
The NB 550's are really cool like Anthony Levine says, but these are extremely uncomfortable shoes for some type of feet with annoying heel slippage issues. For me the NB 550's work great especially after I figured out the insole swapping tech (replacing the provided 550 insoles with the 990 V3 insoles) works great for them.
That said, if you have a pair of wide feet, the 550's may not work for you, as many online reviewers with a pair of wider feet complain about the shape.
Like most reviewers say in their very opinionated biased reviews, all of us have very different shape of feet, so they may work for me or many people with narrower feet but may not work for those with wider feet.
With that said, saying the Jordan 1 or the Adidas Forum Low a comfortable pair of shoes is a bit of stretch by any rational comfort standard, IMO. I mean they were not considered to be comfy shoes even in 1984.
Anyway, I think the Adidas Forum is really underrated silhouette now, Forums are much better made shoes than Jordan 1 Lows or Mids, or NB 550's. However, I still think the AF1's are actually more durable and better made shoes than both the Forum 84 and the NB550's.
Now Adidas seems to be producing really amazing shoes like the Forum 84, the ZX8000, the Supernove Cushion Ivy Park collabs, Jeremy Scott collabs, some interesting EQT93 colorways, etc. The NMD R1 Parley collab is very cool too. But these shoes never get hyped and so always go super sell.
Now many online reviewers talk about the quality of the leather on sneakers across the manufactures and conclude NB has the best leather, but it is a lie (or an unfair comparison in most cases). Most of those reviews just compare NB 990 US that cost like 280 US with cheap Nike and Adidas like AF1 and Forum Low and trash the quality of Adidas and Nike.
But, in my opinion, on affordable shoes like these 120 US Forums or AF1's, Nike and Reebok actually do use a bit better quality leather than the other major brands (NB, Adidas, Jordan, Puma, etc.). NB uses a bit better leather on their US models (and the 2002R and the 90/60) but on their basic or affordable shoes they use the shittiest leather in the business.
If you doubt that, watch Rose Anvil's New Balance 550 review.
After watching his 550 review I think the 550's are just overhyped but actually trashy retro shoes that we don't actually know actually existed in 1989 as NB says. Still, I love the 550 silhouette much better than the Forum or the Jordan 1, or the AF1 low.
The 550's are definitely one of the best recently announced NB sneaker silhouettes. I think the 550, the MT 580, the 1906R, the 90/60 and the 610T are all mazing fantastic shoes.
And these are much more versatile shoes than both Forum and Jordan 1.
I think I love the New Balance regardless of the material quality and hype associated with the now famous 550 silhouette or the Made series shoes. For me the 550's are the sneaker of the decade, simply love the silhouette.
So sorry Adidas and Nike, but this time I must choose the NB as my shoe of this decade.
