This colorway is called," Limestone" online, but NB never officially said that. They call it Modern Beige silver.
Anyway, I was not sure about this pair until I actually bought them and tried them on in my house. I think these are really classy shoes.
Now, I think the v4 is the best 990 series shoes ever. The silhouette is nice, the comfort level is excellent, these are very practical shoes unlike the excessively old v2 or the excessively bulky semi-running shoes like v5 and v6. The v3 and the v4 are simply stunning shoes. I will get the all-purple v4 very soon, in fact, I already ordered them a few weeks ago, but still waiting NB to ship them to my office.
This cute beige shoe came in a yellow red Made in US box, and I think I like the new box too.
Anyway, this colorway and the all-purple hairy-suede colorway are both very unpopular, but I think these are really nice in person; elegant, classy, clean and easy to style even with suits or corduroy pants.
That said, I now wonder if these expensive NB Made shoes really worth the money at all. I mean they are comfy, good-looking and quite well-made shoes, though there are many more comfortable shoes options from NB or some other brands like Reebok and Nike. Before trying out the NB 1080 v13 TDS, I did not have any issue paying over 200 US for the 990 v4 or the 991, but now after the 1080 v13 TDS experience, I cannot justify the almost 300 US for the 990 v4 or the 991.
Yeah, the 990 v4 are comfy shoes, but the 1080 v13 are much better and in their own league, IMO. There are no shoes like the 1080 v13 from NB or any other major shoe brands.
Also, the 1080 v13 or any similar shoes last much longer than the typical casual shoes like the 990 v4 as they have more durable newer rubber tech in the outsole. Many people in the sneaker snob forums think the 1080 v13 or similar shoes are ugly, well it is subjective, I think. To me the Tokyo Design Studio version of the 1080 v13 and the all-black GR pair both look really stunning, they look even better than the 992 or the Vomero 5. I also like the Rebel v4 Carbon or Magnet colorway, they are performance shoes, serious running shoes but released as a LS pair in all black like grey colorway.
Those performance line shoes may look ugly to some people, but do not forget almost all current hyped sneakers were originally designed for the performance shoes market.
This means that the current performance line shoes like the Rebel V4, the 880 v14, the 1080 v13, the More Trail v3, etc. will also become retro sneakers eventually. And those hypebeasts or sneaker snobs rave about them.
So, it is really this silly (and stupid); if some influencer says it is cool style, then all those mindless hyperbeasts love the style, if the same influencer dislikes a certain trend, then they mock that style. They have their own opinions or minds at all.
Personally, I like the 1080 v13 even as a casual pair, and I also love the Nike Motiva and Under Urmour Machina 3. And I bet those mocking that kind of shoes as ugly or too technical actually never try them out or never even see the shoes in person. I think even those extreme sneaker snobs actually see the 1080 v13 TDS or the Magnet colorway, or the Carolina Blue Cream colorway in person, they will change their mind on those running casual hybrid shoes. Once you try the 1080 v13, there is no way go back to the 990 or the Ultraboost kind of shoe world. The comfort provided by the 1080 13 is really otherworldly and simply outstanding. For me, that shoe has changed everything. The 1080 v13 is simply in its own league and nothing is comparable to them in terms of comfort and everyday performance.
UPDATE: These were OK quality wise, but I did not like some loose stitching near the heal of the right side, so I sent them back to NB and got another pair of these, and the new pair seem to be flawless, no glue mark, or loose stitching or like that. So, I guess this pair may have been a slightly defective pair. Anyway, NB customer service guys always make me happy, and in the end, they always make me smile. Their customer service here is second to none.
UPDATE2: I think most of those YouTube sneaker snobs ignore the 1080 v13 kind of shoes, but there are a few really honest ones like the Cowfreekicks, the Heskicks or some other guys actually try the actual running or walking shoes for casual use cases. And most of those guys get really impressed with them.
Honestly, most modern running shoes look too technical, but then those now popular Y2K retro runners like the 1906R, the Vomero 5 or the 860v2 used to be considered so as well, and the 1080 v13 at least in the TDS Dark Camo, the Magnet and the Carolina Blue colorway are not that bad looking at all even as a casual pair. They blend very well with any type of casual pants. So, do not just automatically dismiss or shun them, try them out and see if they work for you. You may be positively surprised about them. They are actually quite good-looking handsome shoes. I do not say this to most of modern running shoes, but the NB 1080 v13 and the Nike Motiva are both very unique and quite good-looking shoes to me.
