100 Strangers 14/100 Shona - a photo on Flickriver

Shona was taking photos with her friend in the bamboo forest when I met her. She caught my eye because she was dressed in an all in one jump suit (?). She also had an open and approachable face.

I just walked over to her and asked her directly if I could take her photo. She laughed and said of course. It turns out she was on a short trip from the States. Her friend was thinking of moving to Kyoto so they were checking it out.

I moved her over to the edge of the forest where I though she would look good against the natural background. She ask if I wanted her to smile. I jokingly said 'no, give me melancholy' and she did! She went into a series of wonderful melancholic poses - I liked this one the best. She wanted me to send her the photos afterwards so we exchanged emails.

The focus isn't quite right. It was shot at f2.2 which may have been a little shallow. She was transitioning into all these different poses like a real model, and this was shot while she was moving
